I don't believe you had to resort to saying that, just to make him happy. The game is finished, a manual is just a book, I don't like books, therefor saying that I don't care what paper, and books say. I beat the game, therefor i finished the game. I don't care what anyone says, When i have beaten the game, and finished the storyline, to me, the game is done. The other stuff, is just freebies. The game is perfect the way it is, and it wasn't rushed IMO. Its great. Thanks A-Net for the game, Have fun, good luck!

They may have stated that there would be an elite mission, but in any of those references was it stated that it would be available at release?

I can`t believe the amount of cry-babies here.So the elite mission is going to be a little late, big deal.I have 6 characters to get through Elona so that will fill in the void till the elite mission arrives.
Sure maybe Anet could have said the content won`t be ready for another 4-6 weeks a bit earlier but its no biggie. At least the content is coming,go buy an EA title if you really want to be disappionted with hyped content thats not in retail copy.

Gaile...

You rock. Seriously.

Regarding the title, once I got level 8 (not a hard task) I simply used common sense to tell myself "Oh, I suppose I'll get more points later. Probably in an area that is really hard so that a Level 9 title is really worth something.". That's an excercise of paitience that some people can't seem to be bothered with. Their loss. They are setting themselves up to be dissapointed.

Regarding the Elite Mission, I would rather this aspect of the game be released in a big update than any other aspect. It's frivolous, really. I've only beaten the Deep once (got the Edge) and never tried the Warren, but the Elite missions themselves get focused on so much that they become breeding grounds for inventive exploits.

Am I sucking up to Anet? You can call it that, but I'm just giving credit to where it is due. They've released a game far better than Factions, with plenty new and expanded features that are included in whatever version you buy. They work hard and care for their users.

Here, you have been given a promise that they will continue to do their job, on their terms, which means they're not going to release a shoddy end product. That's something you can take to the bank. Just imagine, in 2 months exactly how not bored you'll be.

Questions for Gaile:
1) Any Hippos?
2) Any Ritualist Heros?

Later days.

You're just spoiled on how awsome Anet is. Go play Star Wars Galaxies if you really want to see how a game can be completely screwed up by the devs. Serious. Anet is a god-send. I can't stand it when people have tantrums and throw the game back in the dev's faces because they can't grind one more level of one more title.

So, let me get this straight. An elite mission is advertised but not there, IMO false advertising, and farming is practically eliminated. What exactly are we supposed to do once we have beaten the game? Moving through Nightfall is as tedious as Factions so I'm discouraged from moving more than a couple of my ten characters through the game. PvP causes too many problems because people take things too seriously, and with the advent of heroes you have encouraged everyone to go through an MMO solo. If you don't believe me, try defeating Abaddon with real people and then with henchies. 10 times easier with henchies because they listen. Extremely disappointing.

Stop and smell the roses. It is good for content to be streamed and spread out over a period of time than all good stuff being rushed/crammed for one campaign's release. Remember, these are 6 month release cycles. It's something we know going into buying the product, and the quality of the product depends on the time required to make it. I'd rather have a great elite mission ready to go in a month or two as something more to look forward to than something was was mediocre and rushed for release along with all the other new areas, armors, levels, quests, characters, features, and missions of Nightfall.

Patience is good, and the game is about the journey.

Well, when chapter 4 is released, you'll see a thread similar to this:

http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10072100

Basically the guy said he lost interest in GW because he doesn't have time to play Factions to the end with his 3 characters, and now he wants to play those chars through Nightfall but he can't, since they're not "Done" with Factions yet....

Go figure.

I know what I am going to spend the next 5 months, and 3 weeks doing. Moving 11 characters through Elonia.

Gaile, thank you for the answers.

And as to the Elite Mission, is it so great? When Urgoz and The Deep sit empty now a days??? I am sure it would be for the first month of so it's open, and then like all other things, bigger and better things come along and it sits unused. -shrugs-

I enjoyed the Elite Missions, but then they were an "Additional Bonus" to a game I bought.

Got to love those titles, heh.

I never knew there was a problem with the ranks until someone had mentioned it ingame. I am glad to see Anet is on top of fixing things though. I got to barely under rank 8 and I am at the end of the game. I am not concerned with that title though. The concern is the Skill hunter title. I did the cemetary mission and other missions before going to cap skills, and guess what...there is one I can't get. Avatar of Lyssa. Why? because the devs made an error and the boss won't spawn after the mission is done. Nice job on that one.

So Gaile will that be fixed in the update or any smaller soon to come updates?

Elite missions were cut for whatever reason, probably time constraints.

It doesn't take a genius to figure this out. The manual and game reviewers were obviosly given reason to believe elite missions were in the game, and alot of gamers were expecting them as a result. It's fair to say gamers have been mislead on purpose or by accident.

I appreciate the response from Gail, what i don't appreciate is all the damage control and PR smoke blowing. Just fess up, say sorry and work on making ppl happy.

PR tactics just make me angry. Stop trying to spin this screw up as a positive thing.

Gaile, in many ways I feel sorry for you having to deal with a bunch of people with unrealistic expectations. I want to take a moment to say that I think you do great in this thankless and often hostile job environment. Please, keep up the good job.
As for elite missions the only thing I can say is that if an elite mission is introduced into Nightfall and it is implemented as they were in Factions I am not going to again waste my time bothering with it. I have never been so disappointed in a quest within Guild Wars. Yes, I have done both missions multiple times. The best thing that can be said about Faction’s elite missions is that they a good way to gain experience points. If it were not for having to find a member of an often absent guild, and then pay some idiot to ferry me to the mission sight, I might actually enjoy them as much as SF/FOW/TOTPK and many other areas.
As for the Sunpear Rank Title, all I can say is plan ahead. Let’s see, promotion point bounties for hunting down and killing various opponents, quests that give the same promotions points and a title based on getting these points. Hmm… Given the historical difficulty in earning these titles, it seems to me that a cap was very predictable. For me, as soon as I could, I quit taking quests and collected only bounties until I ran out of opponents (yes, I goofed and killed the monks too.).
I play PvE, I find no enjoyment in playing PvP but understand that many people do. For my part; I find that Nightfall is a GREAT game. The graphics are often stunning; the AI is fantastic; the new hero system is simply awesome; the story line is enjoyable and engaging. My lowest rating would have to go to the music, which is still better than the average video game. Unlike Factions, Nightfall is a game, not an over-sized arena with great background music.

I don't care as much about the elite mission or title.

What I do care about is the stupid and by stupid I mean stupid as in not able to comprehend Guild Wars, hero AI. They are worse than henchies and its really really annoying. The problems have been listed many times before but they shouldn't fail going up against Margonites. They shouldn't run around I rather them stand and get hit, they shouldn't cancel out their own skills, both henchies and hero's do this. This is making the higher level areas unplayable for me unless I get a human group, which isn't exactly possible all the time late at night.

I would also like to mention the patrols near rez points, that when you rez they camp it and well basically you better start over if you die. Because you're not going anywhere with 60 DP on everyone. I would say they should fix it so enemies are no where near rez points, if you have to reduce the number of enemies in said area, fine I don't need that challenge it is a frustration nothing more. I've noticed it a few times in nightfall and yes it has hindered me those times I've noticed it, I had to start over. Which isn't exactly appealing to me.

Now I'm not saying Hero's should be undefeatable, but a little upgrade wouldn't hurt anything.

Also these lag jumps I'm getting. I go by a corner, or a priest by the rez shrines. I'm moving forward in my Guild Wars, but not on my map, suddenly about 10 seconds later I'm back at the priest because obviously I got stuck because i was going to close to him. It's a waste of time and has happened to others so cannot be my fault. Very annoying to find out you haven't made any progress because you got stuck on something that you never ran into. I was close but not enough that I should get stuck.

Sorry for taking that off-topic, but it seems Gaile doesn't read any other thread and since she made this one I figured she'd see this post and maybe..try to ask them to solve the issues please?

I really do like Guild Wars and this latest installment, but it's really cutting the enjoyment out for me in the endgame areas. I know the feelings of one gamer don't really matter but there might be more out there who feel this way as well. I'm not bad at this game either, yet I still get decimated no matter what build I have.

1. I love NF, I love GW in general, and I think Gaile is awesome, and I thank her for her response. I hope she realizes that most of the frustration vented here is not at all directed towards her.

2. There's a difference between 'spoiled' and 'playing a great game.' I fail to see how we are 'spoiled'. We *DO* fork over 100 bucks a year for this game, and believe me, if it werent for the complainers, NF might not have been half the game it is now. I see these complaints as more of a heads-up to Anet that, in the future, we want to be made clear what will be in the game at it's release date, and what won't. Maybe we are spoiled in the sense that the devs DO listen to us...but if there was no complaining at all, the Devs would have assumed prophs and factions were perfect games, when in fact they did have room for improvement, as did NF. I havent seen anyone said, "No elite mission? I'm never playing GW again and never buying another GW game!" No one is 'throwing the game back in the devs faces', however many an hour have been lost searching for this elite mission, and people have a right to be disappointed/upset

I agree with this sentiment. I'm not terribly upset that there's no Elite mission yet (could care less about the title - it has no effect on gameplay, what's the deal?), even though I was looking forward to it. It's the principle of the whole thing, and how it's being handled by CR (not PR, ie Gaile).

Instead of a simple "We had some time constraint issues and couldn't get it in by release, sorry! As soon as we finish it, we'll get it out to you in the form of an update!", we get (in a sense) "Hey, good news! You're going to get a -FREE- update, completely courtesy of us! Isn't that so cool!? Wait, what? We, uhh, never promised that it would come with the game, what are you talking about?"

I know that's not exactly what was said, but that is the gist of it. It's as if instead of what was promised to be in the game at release, we're now being told that we should rejoice because it's going to come absolutely free in a couple of months - or whenever they're done with it. Yay! Sounds like a deal to me!! /sarcasm

EDIT: BTW, I'm not blaiming any of this on Gaile herself. I'm saying how it was handled by her job description (as in information passed down to her on how to handle it) was all out of whack. Please don't take this the wrong way, Gaile! You're still my hero!

Well yea, my expectations of the new elite areas are pretty low now. I mean now that they've got the money and they're doing this on the cheap for a xmas.

I'm hoping for something like The Deep where tactics play a more important role than boring grind and Err7 management. I'd also hope for 2-3 elite missions but i guess that's out the window now.

100% how I feel, yet I get backlash for it Someone a few posts up mentioned 'unrealistic expections' - yet please explain how expecting something found in the manual is unrealistic?)
